Arts Council England Grant for the Arts

I am starting a new project, From Absorb to Zoom: An Alphabet of Actions in  the Women's Art Library. I have received an Arts Council England Grant for the Arts for my first project with a UK archive, the Women’s Art Library, housed at Goldsmiths College in London. From Absorb to Zoom will result in a site-specific print installation to be exhibited in March 2015 on the Goldsmiths campus.

The Women's Art Library started as an artist-led initiative to enhance public knowledge of the practice, impact and achievement of women in the visual arts. It houses unique documentation of women artists’ works, mainly from the 1970’s through the 1990’s. My installation will take inspiration from archived slides, artists’ books, magazines, monographs and posters. Through my research, print installation and project blog, I will address the underrepresentation of women in art history and highlight this historically important resource. The blog will feature recent works by selected artists with documentation in the Women’s Art Library, to virtually update the archive.

I also have received in-kind support from my other project partner, the Thames Barrier Print Studio. I will be raising the last portion of my budget with a crowd-funding campaign, so watch this space.
